Virginia?
Change is uncomfortable. But growth is always on the other side of comfort. We met with a realtor. The kind that has known the family for years. The town is marketed as “The Friendly City”. A friendly city where we can buy our dream house for 500k. I can have my dream of raising chickens, and not have neighbors complaining about the smell. I can have space. The town has a Target, Walmart, Costco, and starbucks. The basic requirement for a woman of my age. It has three colleges in the area. The largest being James Madison University. Joe could teach there. We would build equity in a house. Maybe sell it. Maybe live here for the rest of our lives.
I keep thinking that we kept getting out bids for condos around 700k. Condos!! Where hoa fees happen. Where we would have to fight for parking. Where the real estate tax would be far more substantial than here. Where we would hear neighbors. Where smog would drift in.
Joe's main worry is about me making friends. But it's literally called the friendly city! We went to the farmers market here, and two girls said hi to me, for literally no reason. They lingered too. LIke they actually wanted to talk. I'm not worried.
The husband likes that it's an 8 hour drive to Toronto. He has told his brothers. They are already committing to driving down to visit us. Another data point. The company that bought Joe's company has headquarters in virginia.
