Bugs/Vulnerability
Cicadas are bugs that live their life underground. Eight feet below. Seventeen years underground, and then come up to earth to die. I see them everywhere, and they are huge! They all humm. Walking into a forest all you can hear is them. It would be easy to make up some metaphor saying that a lot of people live their life that way. Hiding till death. But there's something kinda brilliant about it. They wait out their predators. You can't kill me if I'm eight feet underground! Being above ground is overrated! Showing people where you are is overrated! Posting on instagram is overrated! Being famous is overrated! Stay hidden! Do what you need to do. Oversharing just gives you a target on your back. Maybe Brene Brown had it wrong. Vulnerability can’t be manufactured to the masses. Telling your truth to average people isn't smart.
