Life Philosophy
My current parent strategy is first to just give an overwhelming amount of love. The second thing is to try and be completely honest with her. Easy now since she doesn't understand words. But imagine if instead of your parents saying how they wish the world was. They were completely honest with you. That yes there are “bad guys” out there, but most people are in the gray area. That once you spend enough time with bad people you realize what makes them that way and that they are basically a victim of something. But once you figure out that truth, you don't want to spend time with them because ultimately you have one life, and you shouldnt waste it on people who don't lift you up in some way.
That when they are being annoying…you actually tell them they are being annoying. And that being annoying isn't the worst thing, but if people don't want to hangout with you, you miss out on social connections.
That teachers don't have all the answers. That I don't have any answers. But it's good to give people the benefit of the doubt. Unless you get a bad vibe. To trust “vibes”.
That playing hard to get basically works. But then you have someone who ultimately isn't obsessed with you naturally.
That having sex before marriage is not actually a bad thing. You just want to be discreet and make sure it doesn't define you to the public.
That stealing/cheating/gossip is bad not because some white bearded man in the sky is tallying up all of it, but because you'll like yourself less afterwards. And to look at yourself in the mirror and like what you see is the ultimate gift. If you don't like what you see you end up sabotaging yourself. Or labeling yourself something bad and then creating this self fulfilling prophecy.
Focusing on yourself is the quickest way to become the most boring person ever, and eventually lead to depression.
If you're hungry and want to eat all the pasta in the world, do it. Just don't label it as “bad”. But take note of how you feel afterwards.
That is picking a mate. Realize that looks fade. That sex is really .008% of your relationship. That kindness is the only thing that matters.
Money is freedom.
Tattoos/dying your hair a weird color/piercings aren't bad. But it limits your audience.
Writing helps you organize your thoughts.
Drugs/alcohol/distractions can be fun, but it steals a little bit of your soul. And if you do it repeatedly your world continues to get smaller and smaller. If you can do life without them it will make you stronger, faster, and just better.
